In a shocking turn of events, Washington state has continued down the treacherous path of cap-and-trade madness with its first quarterly carbon auction of the year, raking in a jaw-dropping $192 million from selling 7.4 million allowances. The Department of Ecology’s preliminary report revealed this alarming news, sending shockwaves through the conservative community.

And if that isn’t enough to make your blood boil, let’s not forget that last year’s auctions and Allowance Price Containment Reserve auctions pulled in over $2 billion. That’s right, folks, billion with a “B.” The APCR, a separate pool of allowances, is just waiting to flood the market with even more environmental hysteria.
But hold on to your hats, because it gets worse. The Climate Commitment Act, enacted by the state Legislature and signed by the notorious green warrior Gov. Jay Inslee, forces emitters to obtain these so-called “emissions allowances” or face the wrath of the eco-tyrants. It’s basically like playing the stock market, but instead of making money, you’re just fueling the insatiable appetite of big government.
And what do they do with all this ill-gotten gain, you ask? They intend to spend it on so-called “climate change mitigating programs” and clean energy initiatives. Translation: more wasteful government spending and green energy boondoggles.
But all hope is not lost, my fellow freedom fighters. Initiative 2117 is making its way to the November ballots, aiming to repeal the oppressive Climate Commitment Act and dismantle Washington’s carbon market once and for all. This could be our chance to strike a blow against the environmentalist overlords and take back our state from their clutches.
If that’s not enough excitement for you, former Washington State Department of Transportation economist Scott Smith has bravely come forward with a whistleblower complaint, claiming he was fired for speaking out against the cap-and-trade program. His calculations predicted an outrageous 45 to 50 cents per gallon increase in gas prices, a burden that hardworking Americans simply cannot bear.
And let’s not forget about our fearless leader, Gov. Inslee, who is eagerly pushing to merge Washington’s carbon market with the likes of California and Quebec. As if one absurd carbon market wasn’t enough, they want to link arms with other liberal strongholds to spread their green gospel even further.
But don’t lose heart, because there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon. The Legislature passed Senate Bill 6058 to facilitate the merging of Washington’s carbon market with California and Quebec. Inslee is chomping at the bit to sign this bill into law, undoubtedly with a self-congratulatory smirk on his face.
It’s time to stand up and fight back, Washingtonians. The fate of our state and our wallets hangs in the balance. Will we let the eco-tyrants win, or will we rise up and reclaim our freedom? The choice is yours come November.
