In yet another example of our crumbling justice system and the unequal application of the law, a man named Douglass Mackey has been sentenced to seven months in prison for the heinous crime of sharing a meme. Yes, you heard that right, a meme. This is just ridiculous. Mackey was convicted of conspiring to interfere in the 2016 presidential election by sharing fake advertisements encouraging Clinton supporters to vote via text message. But seriously, who actually fell for that? If you believed that texting “Hillary” to a random number would count as a valid vote, then maybe you shouldn’t be voting at all.

U.S. District Judge Ann M. Donnelly, who handed down the sentence, described the meme as an “assault on our democracy.” Give me a break. The real assault on our democracy is the constant suppression of conservative voices and the protection given to those on the left who actually engage in election interference. Just look at the Hunter Biden laptop scandal. The information on that laptop had a clear impact on the election, yet there were no prison sentences for those who suppressed it. Where is the justice in that?
Thankfully, we have people like Elon Musk willing to call out the government for their hypocrisy. Musk pointed out that Mackey’s actions had no material impact on the election, while the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop did. Yet, Mackey gets sent to prison and those responsible for suppressing the laptop information face no consequences. It’s refreshing to see Musk speak his mind and stand up against the overreach of the government. He knows he’s a target of multiple investigations, but he’s not afraid to speak out anyway. We need more people like him who aren’t willing to be silenced by the left’s attempts to control the narrative.
This case highlights a troubling trend of criminalizing speech and selectively applying the law. It’s time for a change, and it’s time for those responsible for suppressing conservative voices and interfering in elections to face the consequences of their actions. Enough is enough.
