In a recent report by CNN about Hunter Biden’s upcoming arraignment on gun charges, it was revealed that the Justice Department took a mugshot of Hunter Biden. However, the image has not been released to the public, raising questions and fueling President Trump’s claims that the Department of Justice has been weaponized. Trump, who is President Biden’s chief rival and likely electoral opponent in 2024, had his mugshot released to the public following his indictment in Georgia last month.
Hunter Biden’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, shared this information in a letter requesting that Hunter be allowed to appear at his upcoming arraignment over video, but the request was denied. It was confirmed that Hunter’s mugshot was taken when he appeared in court for a plea deal that fell through. However, according to a spokesperson for the U.S. Marshalls Service, it is a matter of longstanding policy not to release a federal defendant’s post-arrest imagery, such as a mugshot.

This double standard has not gone unnoticed. Trump’s mugshot was taken in Georgia, where he is facing charges in state court. He has been indicted four times in total by three different prosecutors, all of whom are aligned with Biden’s party. Trump has criticized these indictments as part of a coordinated attack by a weaponized justice system that favors Democrats like Joe Biden and his son.
Moreover, Hunter’s recent indictment for lying on a gun form has been dismissed by Trump and other Republicans as a distraction from more serious wrongdoing involving the Biden family’s business deals. Special Counsel David Weiss, who is overseeing the probe, denied Hunter’s lawyer’s request for him to appear at his arraignment over video and insisted that he appear in person to uphold public trust, even comparing Hunter’s situation to Trump’s.
Despite these efforts, doubts about special treatment will continue unless Hunter’s mugshot is released, further raising concerns that “no one is above the law.” This situation only adds to the existing skepticism surrounding the Biden family and their relationship with the justice system.
