A former Clinton pollster, Doug Schoen, has found himself swimming in indecision ahead of the 2024 presidential election, largely due to Vice President Kamala Harris’s ever-shifting positions and her tepid response to antisemitism. It seems that even for someone once on the Democratic bandwagon, the grand circus performance of Harris is wearing thin.
Schoen pointed out that Harris has performed a remarkable disappearing act, retreating from several leftist positions she once championed during her 2020 campaign days. From mandatory gun buybacks to a socialist dream of single-payer healthcare, to her earlier embrace of open borders and plastic straw bans, it seems like the VP’s principles are more like a buffet line – just pick what you like and leave the rest. Now, Schoen is particularly skeptical of Harris when it comes to her commitment to Israel following the horrific attacks by Hamas on October 7, 2023. Apparently, balancing her leftist ideology with a clear stance on significant global issues is a tightrope she doesn’t seem to navigate very well.

In a revealing moment on Fox News, hyper-aware host Harris Faulkner prodded Schoen on whether he could bring himself to vote for Harris, given that he once broke ranks with the Clinton machine. Schoen’s answer? A rather firm “no.” His hesitance is rooted in both her fickle political positions and what he perceives as a lackluster commitment to fighting antisemitism. After all, how can Harris expect conservative voters to support her when she embraces positions that seem to flip-flop like a fish out of water when it comes to crucial matters of security and moral clarity?
As it stands, Harris is reportedly leading former President Donald Trump by a slim margin of just 1.1% in recent RealClearPolitics polling averages, which only further underlines the challenge she faces in securing broad support—even with lesser-known candidates like Jill Stein and Cornel West floating in the mix. With such a thin lead, one has to wonder if her supporters are more like observers wondering what she will say next rather than staunch allies rallying behind a strong candidate.
Schoen has also previously called out the Democratic Party for its weak response to the virulent anti-Israel protests that have been boiling over in recent years, including events where demonstrators have shockingly yelled slogans hinting at violence against Israel. This lack of robust action against antisemitism within party ranks seems to be a glaring issue, even prompting Schoen to question whether Harris truly represents the values of moderate Democrats or the beleaguered moderates who once thought they had a voice in the party. With such disillusionment evident, it might just take more than a few policy adjustments for Harris to turn that undecided status into something more solid.
