In a new twist of hypocrisy, liberal media outlets are attacking House Speaker Mike Johnson for not profiting off his time in Congress. Congressman Matt Gaetz is standing up for his fellow Republican, calling out a Daily Beast journalist for their smug remarks about Johnson’s financial situation. Gaetz points out that Speaker Johnson doesn’t engage in shady business deals or trade stocks like many corrupt politicians do.
It’s no secret that members of Congress often see their net worth increase while in office, despite the requirement to report every dollar earned. Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, for example, has faced scrutiny for her prolific stock trading while passing legislation that directly benefited her financial interests. Yet, now the liberal media is going after Speaker Johnson, insinuating that he has some nefarious plan to enrich himself after leaving office.
In an attempt to further smear Speaker Johnson, the Daily Beast interviewed supposed experts who suggested that he could be opening himself up to “influence buying” as a future lobbyist. This baseless speculation is nothing more than an attempt to tarnish a Republican leader who has already shown his commitment to ethical leadership.
The Daily Beast is furious that @SpeakerJohnson isn’t rich, corrupt or rich from being corrupt.

Not content with attacking Johnson’s financial situation, Democrats have also tried to fundraise off of his election by spreading fear about his stance on LGBT rights and abortion protections. This desperate attempt to raise campaign funds shows just how low the Democrats are willing to go to retain power.
Fortunately, Speaker Johnson has already proven himself to be a strong fundraising force for the Republican Party. His leadership has resulted in Republicans’ best fundraising week of the entire election cycle, ensuring that GOP incumbents will have the resources they need to withstand tough reelection battles.
The attacks on Speaker Johnson are nothing more than partisan attempts to undermine Republican leadership. It’s clear that the liberal media and Democrats are threatened by his integrity and dedication to serving the American people. Instead of engaging in baseless attacks, they should focus on the real issues that matter to the American people.
