Georgia Fights Back: Rejects Biden’s Migrant Release, Saving Jobs & Schools

In a win for Florida, Georgia has stood up against the Biden administration’s lenient border policies by rejecting a request to release illegal migrants into the state. Florida’s Attorney General, Ashely Moody, praised the decision as it prevents migrants from taking jobs, housing, and schools away from American citizens. Breitbart News reports that this rejection is also a step towards blocking asylum loopholes created by DHS Secretary Mayorkas as he resettles millions of migrants in US towns and cities. Florida has taken things a step further and requested that a judge block the release of migrants via parole, which is likely to stop those who exploit the asylum loophole.

The legislation for this change in policy was carried by Republican Representatives Berny Jacques and Kiyan Michael in the House and sponsored by Senator Blaise Ingoglia in the Senate, as reported by Florida Voice News. Senator Ingoglia has been critical of President Biden’s inefficient handling of the southern border crisis, which has allowed over 6.3 million illegal immigrants to infiltrate the border. He noted that the legislation will set aside $12 million from the general fund to combat an illegal immigration program used by Governor DeSantis to send migrants to Martha’s Vineyard last year.

While some media outlets have raised concerns that the new law could cause a migrant exodus, conservatives are optimistic that other states will follow the lead of Florida and Georgia. The law makes it imperative for employers to verify the immigration status of their workers and requires hospitals to do the same. Florida-based outlet WLRN reported that immigration advocates fear that even those with legal status would leave the state. Nonetheless, conservatives remain firm in their support for the legislation, hailing it as a significant move in combating the illegal migrant influx.
