In a bold move, Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Representative Virginia Foxx (R-NC) are demanding answers from the Biden administration as they call for an investigation into the “botched” rollout of updates to the student aid program. These conservative leaders aren’t holding back as they slam the Education Department’s implementation of updates to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid program.
The FAFSA Simplification Act of 2020, which was supposed to take effect on January 1st, was delayed, causing financial stress for countless families. Cassidy and Foxx, along with a group of their Republican colleagues, wasted no time in expressing their outrage and concern over the Biden administration’s failure to prioritize the needs of American families and students.

According to the scathing letter sent to the Government Accountability Office, the Education Department made the FAFSA application available sporadically, causing undue stress and anxiety for students and their families. This delayed rollout has left students in limbo, unable to make informed decisions about their college plans due to uncertainty surrounding financial aid offers.
In a blistering critique, the Republican lawmakers highlighted the struggles faced by low-income students who heavily rely on federal aid to pursue their postsecondary education.
