The New York fundraiser raked in an unprecedented $26 million for Biden’s campaign, and the upcoming Los Angeles event is anticipated to give that number a run for its money, with prominent celebrities like George Clooney and Julia Roberts in attendance. Obama’s continued support for Biden is also expected to give the event a significant boost, considering his popularity among voters.
Although Republicans are currently trailing behind Democrats in fundraising by about $25 million as of March, Trump’s April 6 fundraiser at Mar-a-Lago, which drew the presence of several billionaires, raised an impressive $50.5 million for the former president’s cause. During the event, a campaign spokesperson emphasized Trump’s commitment to retake the White House and address critical issues such as energy production, border security, inflation reduction, tax cuts, and foreign policy matters.
Democrats have long enjoyed cozy relationships with Hollywood and the broader entertainment industry in California, leveraging the deep pockets and influence of high-profile celebrities to advance their fundraising efforts. With an upcoming large-scale event in California, the party is poised to capitalize on these connections once again to bolster Biden’s campaign.
