Hunter Biden Defies Subpoenas, GOP Whiffs Impeachment Air!

On December 13, First Son Hunter Biden made a grand show of snubbing his nose at a congressional subpoena, much to the chagrin of the House Oversight Committee. Rather than honoring his obligation to provide closed-door testimony, he opted for a press conference on the Senate side of the Capitol and promptly skipped out. The committee’s chairman, James Comer (R-KY), along with House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), have declared they won’t let Hunter off the hook. And let’s not forget, this is all directly connected to his father, President Joe Biden.

The real kicker came when the White House let slip that President Biden knew in advance that his son, Hunter, was planning to brazenly disregard not just one, but two congressional subpoenas. It’s got Comer and Jordan seeing red, and they ain’t about to let this slide. They’re making noise about the possibility that the President might have been in cahoots to obstruct Congress.

Before all this mess, Senate Republicans had already launched an impeachment inquiry into President Biden, and on the same day that Hunter was supposed to face the music, the House voted along party lines to greenlight an impeachment inquiry into the president. It’s like a political soap opera, folks.

The drama doesn’t stop there. Hunter got all special snowflake-y when he received a subpoena last month, wanting to put on a show in a public testimony. Chairman Comer wasn’t having any of that, though. He made it crystal clear that Hunter was expected to play by the rules and appear for closed-door testimony, like everyone else. The GOP big shots kept reminding Hunter’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, that he needed to show up for his December 13 deposition or face the consequences.

And who could forget the White House Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, who just can’t keep her story straight? The White House’s version of events keeps changing faster than a chameleon on a rainbow. When pressed about President Biden’s involvement in his son’s business affairs, Jean-Pierre gets all snappy, denying and deflecting with the best of them.

During a press briefing on December 13, Jean-Pierre was asked about Hunter flouting his subpoena, and boy oh boy, did she dance around that question like her life depended on it. She didn’t give an inch of a real answer, that’s for sure.
