The antics of Vice President Kamala Harris are becoming a masterclass in modern political double-talk. With a track record that would make a seasoned magician proud, Harris has managed to confuse the American public on her policies to a degree that would make a kindergarten teacher question what’s happening in their class.
Senator JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential candidate from Ohio, provided an amusing analogy for Harris’s slippery relationship with the truth during an extended chat with Joe Rogan. He highlighted that her fibbing is reminiscent of his four-year-old boy, who recently attempted to pull a fast one after snacking on some forbidden Oreos. The senator humorously painted a picture of innocence turned deceptive in a kitchen scenario, where innocent cookie crumbs became a serious case of denial. The young Vance, in attempt to cover his sugary tracks, pointed his finger back at dad, claiming the cookies had mysteriously disappeared thanks to his parent’s munching prowess. Sounds like Harris could take notes from a toddler!

This should send alarm bells ringing for anyone invested in honesty in politics. Vance pointed out that Harris doesn’t just tell tales; she boasts about her administration’s attempts to arrest political dissenters. Still, she has the gall to leapfrog the truth by accusing former President Trump of wielding the law like a sledgehammer against his foes when, during his tenure, he didn’t opt for that route himself. The irony drips thicker than syrup on a stack of pancakes.
Then there’s the issue of her constantly changing stance on major policy topics. Harris has flipped on critical subjects as quickly as one might change a light bulb. Take fracking, for instance. One moment, she’s all in favor of it—next thing you know, she’s joined the ranks of the anti-fracking crusaders without so much as a brief stop at ‘clarity station.’ It’s no wonder that her opponents, and even some members of her own party, struggle to pin down where she stands.
The misstatements don’t stop there. Harris recently claimed, during a gathering with the National Association of Black Journalists, that she and President Biden inherited the worst unemployment rates since the Great Depression. However, this assertion stands out like a neon sign screaming: “This is false!” The numbers tell a different story. The unemployment rate was approximately 6.7 percent in December 2020—not the worst but certainly a long way from a depression-era disaster. This little slip-up showcases how the current administration tends to rely more on narrative than on factual accuracy.
With every twist, flip, and turn in her statements, the case for skepticism towards Harris grows stronger. If only she could manage her policies as well as her tales, maybe then the American people could actually trust what she has to say. Until then, comparisons to toddlers armed with cookie jars will just have to do.
