Oh boy, it seems like Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) just can’t catch a break! In his quest to become Speaker of the House for the third time, he’s facing even more resistance from fellow Republicans. It’s like a bad case of déjà vu for poor Jordan.
The latest defectors include Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) who decided to vote for Speaker Pro Temp Patrick McHenry (R-NC) instead. And let’s not forget about Rep. Marc Molinari (R-NY), who ditched Jordan in favor of his former colleague Lee Zeldin (R-NY). Ouch, that’s gotta sting!
Rumor has it that a meeting between Rep. Jordan and the rebellious Republicans didn’t go too well. Apparently, they made it crystal clear to Jordan that he’ll never be Speaker. Of course, the White House is reveling in the Republicans’ disarray. They’re pointing fingers and accusing the GOP of being more interested in tearing down the government than actually governing. And let’s not forget about the outside allies who are launching advertisements targeting vulnerable House Republicans and labeling them as “insurrectionists” due to their association with Jordan. It’s a nasty smear campaign aimed at sabotaging the GOP’s chances in the next election.
