Last week, the liberal Democratic governor of New Mexico, Michelle Lujan Grisham, stirred up a whole lot of anger when she decided to ban the carrying of guns in Albuquerque for a whole month. Can you believe it? Taking away law-abiding citizens’ right to bear arms. Well, luckily, a federal judge just stepped in and put a stop to her egregious rule.
According to the folks at Breitbart, U.S. District Judge David Herrera Urias issued a temporary restraining order to block Governor Grisham’s gun ban. Hallelujah! The judge stated that the defendants, including Gov. Grisham herself, were “enjoined from applying, enforcing, or attempting to enforce” the gun restrictions. Thank goodness for a little common sense in the judiciary!
This court ruling came in response to a lawsuit filed by pro-gun groups, including Gun Owners of America, the National Association for Gun Rights, the New Mexico Shooting Sports Foundation, and the Gun Owners Foundation. It’s about time someone stood up for the Second Amendment!
The Governor of New Mexico has just declared the 1st & 2nd Amendment “does not exist” due to an “emergency.”
Under this legal theory *all* of our “rights” are essentially eliminated.

Now, not only were conservatives upset about Governor Grisham’s tyrannical actions, but even some Democrats joined in on the criticism. Can you believe it? California Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu actually tweeted that the gun ban violated the U.S. Constitution. I have to say, I never thought I would agree with Ted Lieu about anything, but here we are. Even he understands that no state has the power to suspend our precious Constitution.
This shocking display of agreement from Ted Lieu led to a response from Republican Senator Ted Cruz, who tweeted, “Here are words I’ve never said before: Ted Lieu is right.” Well, Senator Cruz, we are just as surprised as you are, but we’ll take it! It’s refreshing to see some bipartisan acknowledgement that our constitutional rights should not be trampled on.
So, thanks to the federal judge’s ruling, the citizens of Albuquerque can once again exercise their right to bear arms. It’s a small victory for freedom-loving Americans everywhere. Let’s hope that Governor Grisham learns her lesson and realizes that she cannot simply trample on the rights of law-abiding citizens. It’s time to put an end to these unconstitutional gun grabs once and for all!
