In a stunning turn of events, Justice Elena Kagan has decided to defect from her colleagues on the Supreme Court by endorsing the idea of a new ethics code. It seems that Justice Kagan has succumbed to the pressure from the left-leaning media and is now parroting their talking points. According to her, adopting a code of conduct would be “a good thing” and would help improve the Supreme Court’s public image. But let’s not be fooled by this empty rhetoric. It’s clear that this is just another attempt by the liberal elites to undermine the integrity of our highest judicial body.

While Justice Kagan claims that a code of conduct would ensure that justices are “adhering to the highest standards of conduct,” we all know that this is nothing more than political posturing. The Supreme Court already operates under a set of ethical guidelines, and there is no evidence to suggest that these guidelines have been violated. This is just a desperate attempt by the left to undermine the credibility of conservative justices like Clarence Thomas.

It is important to note that Justice Kagan’s support for a new ethics code is not shared by her colleagues. She herself acknowledged that there is “legitimate concern” over whether the same code of conduct that governs lower court judges can be applied to the Supreme Court. So why is she pushing for something that her fellow justices are hesitant to endorse? The answer is simple: partisan politics.
Conservatives are not fooled by this blatant double standard. While Justice Kagan and her liberal friends are calling for new ethics rules, they conveniently ignore the questionable behavior of liberal justices like Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Where was the outrage when Justice Ginsburg accepted a $1 million award that she could donate to organizations of her choosing? Or when she donated a signed copy of one of her decisions for a fundraiser? The hypocrisy is staggering.
The fact of the matter is that the Supreme Court does not need a new ethics code. What it needs is for justices to uphold the Constitution and interpret the law without political bias. Justice Kagan’s endorsement of a new code only serves to further erode the trust and confidence that the American people have in our highest court. It’s time for conservatives to stand up against this liberal agenda and defend the integrity of the Supreme Court.
