Kamala Harris Attempts to Rebrand as Pro-Gun but Her Record Tells Another Story

Kamala Harris has managed to stir the pot once again, this time with her recent proclamation during an ABC News debate that she, in fact, owns a gun. In a desperate bid to soften her image as a staunch gun-control advocate, Harris attempted to present herself as a responsible gun owner. But let’s not forget, the history records suggest otherwise. Just a few years back, she was dreaming up schemes for unconstitutional executive actions to round up so-called assault weapons during her 2020 primary campaign. For someone who has advocated going door-to-door to enforce safe storage laws, calling herself a gun owner feels like a disingenuous cover-up.

One might wonder about the kind of firepower the vice president has tucked away in her safe. With her flashy bravado of being ready to “come out blasting” in case of a home invasion, shouldn’t it be a burning question just what firearm she is touting? It’s one thing to act tough in front of the cameras; it’s another to be practical about home defense. The insinuation that she nonchalantly dreams about shooting intruders raises eyebrows. What’s next, a public safety ad featuring a smiling Harris next to a Glock? It’s absurdity at its finest demonstrating just how out of touch she really is.

In a recent attempt to clarify, CNN’s Jim Acosta pitched the question directly to Harris’s spokesperson, Adrienne Elrod. Unfortunately for her, it did not go quite as planned. Rather than providing the eager public with valuable insight, she limply responded with a rehearsed line about “strong, responsible gun ownership,” only to quickly backtrack with, “Uh, I can’t really comment” when pressed for specifics on what kind of gun Harris supposedly owns. It begs the question: if the Vice President is indeed a gun owner, what does she have to hide?

Let’s also take into account that Harris enjoys round-the-clock protection from the Secret Service. This makes her claims about gun ownership all the more perplexing. A woman who is shielded by armed agents like a VIP at a red carpet event isn’t exactly the poster child for advocating gun rights in everyday America. If anything, it’s a slap in the face to those who actually rely on their own firearms for self-defense.

The phrase “strong, responsible gun ownership” is yet another example of political double-talk that sounds great in the echo chamber but falls flat in real life. This kind of slick, poll-tested jargon hasn’t resonated with anyone who understands the Second Amendment. Harris’s attempts to polish her image as a “responsible gun owner” simply defy credibility. Now, more than ever, it’s clear: the Vice President can try all she wants to masquerade as pro-Second Amendment, but her record reveals the truth: she’s decidedly anti-gun, and no amount of spin can wash that away.
