Kamala Harris NAACP Speech Ignores Voter Reality Favors Fear Over Facts

At the 56th NAACP Image Awards, former Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a speech that can only be described as an ode to fearmongering, drenched in apocalyptic imagery meant to rally her base. Claiming that America is facing “flames on our horizons, rising waters in our cities,” and “shadows gathering over our democracy,” Harris seems to be living in a reality far removed from the actual sentiments of Americans who decisively chose President Trump in the latest election. The only flames seen by most are those burning brightly on the conservative side of the political spectrum.

In her moment of acceptance for the Chairman’s Award, Kamala took a nostalgic detour, reminiscing about the NAACP’s origins amid “greed, bitterness, and hatred.” A little ironic coming from the woman whose own party has been scrutinized for fostering division and facilitating unrest in recent years. Harris appears to suggest that those “dark days” have returned, which sounds more like a deflection than a legitimate critique given the clear evidence of her party’s historical mishaps and failures.

She called upon the audience to “organize” and “mobilize,” as if the American public was sitting idly by, waiting for an invitation to join the latest episode in her dramatic saga. The constant drumbeat of struggle and the invocation of community spirit sound suspiciously like excuses for their party’s failures to engage with a swath of the electorate that has clearly moved on—namely, the working-class voters who have opted for a more conservative agenda.

Moreover, Harris took a swipe at tech mogul Elon Musk, lamenting that the American story wouldn’t be penned merely by those in power or the wealthy elite. While one can appreciate her concern for inclusivity in the narrative, she seems blissfully unaware that the real American narrative has already been written in favor of Trump, solidifying his footprint across swing states and prompting an exodus from a Democrat Party that many working-class individuals now view with skepticism.

As Harris paints her bleak picture, it’s essential to recall that the once-mighty Democrat party is in shambles, scrambling to rebuild its image after being rejected by voters in a historic election. The former vice president’s attempt to bolster her party’s spirit, while simultaneously ignoring the elephant in the room (or perhaps the entire herd), shows a dramatic disconnect with the electorate. The true writing of the American story has begun to favor a new political direction, one that keeps the nation’s best interests at heart while leaving the fear-based tactics behind.
