In the ever-evolving saga of American politics, few figures are as adept at changing colors as Vice President Kamala Harris. Many Americans are beginning to wonder how anyone can trust what the Vice President has to say. It seems like every time the clock strikes a new hour, she flips her position on crucial issues. From her past support of Medicare for All to an apparent about-face on building a border wall, her latest flip-flop centers around gas-powered vehicles and electric vehicle mandates.
Recently, Harris’s campaign sent out a fact-check email, confidently asserting that she does not support an electric vehicle mandate. However, it seems that the Vice President’s past statements suggest otherwise. Her own words indicate a grand ambition of achieving nearly zero emissions from vehicles by 2045, which is not far off considering that 2023 is already here! This lofty goal raises eyebrows because it prioritizes an ideal that many Americans aren’t exactly ready to embrace. In fact, a recent study revealed that only three out of ten individuals are genuinely interested in purchasing an electric vehicle. Is it just me, or does this sound like a tough sell in a country that enjoys the rumble of a gas-powered engine?
But the plot thickens! The Vice President’s prior promises included the assertion that half of all new cars would be electric by 2030. Fast forward to a mere 21 years away, and she envisions a world where gasoline cars are mere relics of the past. That’s a tall order, especially given that many drivers still cling to their traditional vehicles like a lifebuoy in a storm. Harris’s stance may resonate with her far-left base, but it hardly seems to reflect the will of the average American driver.
Despite her recent claims, it appears that Harris continues to cater to her most devoted supporters: the climate activists and the ardent proponents of the Green New Deal. These groups seem to be rallying around her instead of distancing themselves, suggesting that, when it comes to environmental issues, her old beliefs haven’t strayed far from their original course. Even her ardent policies seem to backtrack in a way that leaves many baffled. After all, if she were genuinely shifting gears, wouldn’t it make sense for her to openly engage with critics who challenge her narrative?
Let’s not forget her infamous comments on fracking, which also seem to be up for debate. People are scratching their heads, questioning whether her perspective has really changed over the last few years. It’s almost comical how her advisers shift their explanations when pressed about her past statements. Any time they attempt to clarify her position, it often results in muddled messages that leave the public none the wiser.
In the end, Kamala Harris may still be the same radical she always was, merely cloaked in the latest political trends that often leave constituents feeling left out and confused. If her latest endeavors are any indication, she might want to think long and hard about how to balance the goals of her party’s base with the realities of the American people.
