With the midterms looming on the horizon, the political circus is gearing up, and it seems that Kamala Harris is trying to collect endorsements like some people collect stamps. After Joe Biden’s dramatic exit from the race in July, Harris found herself in a delightful position to snag support from some GOP heavyweights. It’s hard not to smirk at the thought of conservatives crossing party lines in desperation, looking for validation from the far-left camp.
The opinions spilled out of former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki like spilled ink from a leaky pen on Saturday, as she urged former Vice President Mike Pence, former President George W. Bush, and Senator Mitt Romney to endorse Harris. Psaki pointed to former Representative Liz Cheney’s support of Harris as some sort of bravery badge all anti-Trump Republicans should strive for, suggesting they might want to follow her lead – talk about taking your political life into your own hands. Cheney, who had her own moment of glory with the January 6th Commission, can now add being the poster child for “Republicans for Harris” to her resume, right next to “losing my primary by a landslide.”

In a bizarre call to arms, Psaki claimed that time was running out for the likes of Romney and Pence, admonishing them that their opportunity to be remembered by history in a positive light would slip away if they didn’t act soon. While the whispers of greatness might be enticing, it’s hard to believe that jumping on the Harris bandwagon is the ticket to a solid historical legacy. While she chastised these “anti-Trump Republicans” for their hesitation, one can only chuckle at how she seems to underestimate the loyalty many have to their party.
Romney, the self-proclaimed torchbearer of “nice” politics, is gearing up to depart from the Senate next year, not to mention he’s not even seeking reelection—so his support for Harris might just be him looking for a little last-minute attention before he fades into obscurity. And poor Pence, who’s been floundering ever since his time as Trump’s right-hand man, still hasn’t shown his cards after withdrawing from the race. Instead of rallying behind a fellow Republican, he appears to be waiting for another invitation to join the pro-establishment club.
As the clock ticks down on the election, one has to wonder if there’s a larger game at play here. Are these GOP leaders really considering veering into the depths of liberal madness, or is it just a tactic to save face among the leftist elite? The image of these Republicans publicly endorsing Harris is not just a spectacle; it’s a reminder of how out of touch some in the party seem to be. With such antics, the Democrats may very well find themselves with fresh recruits for their cause—just not from the sections of the party that actually maintain a foothold in reality.
