Kamala Harris’s Campaign Relies on Hollywood Glitz While Ignoring Everyday American Struggles

Kamala Harris’s final campaign push is practically a red carpet extravaganza filled with Hollywood’s elite, rolling out the star-studded endorsements as if they’re Brangelina making a comeback—completely out of touch with the everyday American. While millions endure the pain of skyrocketing prices for gas and groceries and grapple with the true effects of open borders and crime, Harris has apparently decided that a few songs, a sprinkle of celebrity glitz, and a dash of elitist charm can sell her frail candidacy to the American public. Perhaps she believes that if she throws enough star power at voters, they will ignore the reality of their wallets getting lighter.

Trade-in your rig for a celebrity stumping for you, and suddenly, it’s as if none of that pesky inflation exists. Harris has been seen front and center, cozying up to A-listers like Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen, and J-Lo. One might think that being surrounded by the Hollywood elite could provide her with the guidance necessary to solve the nation’s problems. Ironically, though, it seems these glitzy endorsements may do more to unite everyday Americans in their disdain than gain her any new voters. After all, few working-class folks likely find relatable counsel in someone whose closest worries revolve around red carpet fashion rather than their skyrocketing grocery bills.

Once upon a time, Kamala Harris attempted to keep Hollywood at arm’s length, fearing the negative connotations of elitism that tanked Hillary Clinton’s campaign in 2016. Walking back that strategy, she has now decided to throw caution to the wind, welcoming endorsements from all corners of the entertainment industry, while seemingly forgetting where her priorities should lie. The recent decision to prioritize a TV show appearance over a critical campaign stop in Michigan speaks volumes about her commitment—or lack thereof—to the battleground states she desperately needs.

With endorsements rolling in from some of the richest names in Hollywood, including Oprah and the likes of Tyler Perry and Arnold Schwarzenegger, one question springs to mind: Can this celebrity charm offensive outweigh actual concerns of real Americans? It would seem that Harris and her glamorous buddies believe they can simply beam down from their estates and sprinkle a bit of Hollywood magic to convince working-class folks to forget the woes they face daily. Spoiler alert: It’s unlikely to work.

As the looming specter of Donald Trump continues to gather momentum, Harris’s reliance on the extravagant endorsements of the Hollywood elite seems more like a desperate publicity stunt than a viable strategy to appeal to voters. While thousands of celebrity voices flood the airwaves with pleas to promote her candidacy, the average American might just find themselves more inclined to rally around the presence of someone more grounded, rather than someone attempting to sell them a utopia fashioned by those living in gated communities. In the battle between celebrity charm and the grit of working-class reality, the Hollywood elite may find themselves on the losing side of the voting booth this November.
