The liberal media’s chronic case of Trump Derangement Syndrome reached new heights during the recent Cabinet confirmation hearings, where they struggled to find anything substantial to criticize President-elect Trump’s nominees. As the leftists at MSNBC gathered to deliver their latest segment of anti-Trump theatrics, viewers were treated to a performance worthy of the finest Saturday Night Live skits, but unfortunately lacking any comedic talent.
On this particularly entertaining episode of “The Weekend,” former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele displayed the kind of desperate grasping that has become a hallmark of left-wing pundits these days. Instead of addressing the impressive qualifications of Trump’s nominees—like former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi—he instead opted for some weak commentary in a feeble attempt to distract from her accomplishments. The irony is hard to miss; while Bondi is preparing to tackle the tough job of U.S. Attorney General, Steele seems more interested in ranting about minor formalities during her Senate hearing.

Apparently, a rigorous cross-examination is the gold standard of confirmation hearings, instead of vetting suitable candidates. Instead of focusing on Bondi’s qualifications, Steele’s critique turned into a mockery of a casual exchange between her and Texas Senator Ted Cruz. Because, of course, bonding over shared values is something to be ridiculed in Steele’s world, where everything Trump touches turns to chaos.
Not to be outdone by their own melodrama, MSNBC program hosts spun a tale of conspiracy and confusion about the election. Steele’s jab at Bondi for her mention of “77 million people”—a reference to Trump’s considerable support—wasn’t just a lament over electoral math; it was a symptom of the left’s refusal to accept reality. Some would argue that a candidate with millions of supporters has a case to make, while Steele sounds more like a disgruntled baseball fan who can’t stand it when the home run hitter doesn’t strike out.
Despite the left’s theatrics, social media painted a different picture of Bondi’s performance, with many users praising her competence and poise. One particular social media user highlighted President Trump’s apparent improvement in assembling a capable Cabinet, even before his inauguration.
