Republican lawmakers in Louisiana have successfully shut down a bill, which aimed to examine the funding and resources used by K-12 schools and higher education institutions for their critical race theory and diversity, equity, and inclusion programs. The proposed transparency bill, known as House Resolution 13, was rejected by the GOP-controlled Louisiana State Legislature’s House Committee on Education. The bill’s sponsor, Republican State Representative Valarie Hodges, said that its purpose was to further examine the activities offered by the state’s educational institutions. However, the leftist Democrats questioned the necessity of the bill and claimed that it aimed to curb critical race theory and inclusion initiatives.
Louisiana needs more real Republicans. https://t.co/JvClJl0hD6

The Democrats have shown that their preference is to implement harmful programs that perpetuate race-based discrimination and undermine our education system’s foundations. Democratic State Representative Tammy Phelps even had the impudence to challenge Hodges, asking, “What is your problem with inclusion?” The Democrats have failed to realize that communicating their concern for bias curriculum will not prevent Republicans from pushing back against it.
Fortunately, Republican State Representative Vincent St. Blanc, who played a role in hiring education officials, stood up against the “racist instrument” legislation. Monty Sullivan, president of Louisiana’s Community and Technical College System, referred to the legislation as a “racist instrument.” These Democrats attacked their colleagues in the Republican party, calling them racists and using the race card as a baseless political tool when they know well that Republican objections had nothing to do with the people’s color.
CRT has already caused enough damage to our education system across the country, with its divisive and harmful teachings. Parents and students alike deserve transparency in their education system regarding CRT and DEI initiatives. Republican State Representative Hodges’ proposed bill is a much-needed clarification and transparency demand, but unfortunately, the Democrats rejected it. Nevertheless, lawmakers across the nation are standing up against CRT and DEI programs, and we hope the Republican-controlled states invoke legislation that pushes back against discrimination-based programs.
