Lululemon store in metro Atlanta terminated two employees for doing the right thing! Yes, you read it right; they fired two employees for chasing looters out of the store and calling 911 to report the robbery. The company even criticized them for calling the police, shocking, right? The fired employees, former assistant manager Jennifer Ferguson and one of her employees, Rachel Rogers, had even followed the company’s policy of clearing the path and scanning a QR code after the incident. However, according to the company’s handbook, the employees are not supposed to get in the way, but clear a path for whoever is going to do whatever they want. What kind of policy is this?
These two women had displayed exemplary behavior by following the law and company policy and were even praised for their actions on Facebook by Ferguson’s husband, who called them’ leaders.’ However, the company refused to pay them any financial help and instead terminated them without reason. How shameful!
It isn’t the first time the Peachtree Corners store was robbed several times before the incident. But the company’s policy remained the same, no matter how many times it was robbed. The regional manager even questioned the employees about calling law enforcement to report the robbery, which is baffling.
The company’s no-tolerance policy seems to have backfired in this instance, and instead of being praised, two hardworking employees were let go under bogus reasons. Lululemon needs to revamp its handbook and support employees who take legal measures to protect stores from theft. Policies should not turn the company against their easy-going and honest employees.

It is a shame these strong women got terminated when they were only doing their job right by clearing a path, protecting the employees, following the policy, and even reporting the robbery to the police, but, what do they expect from a company that doesn’t even want to report a robbery, right?
