The media has strayed into a realm of self-congratulation that would be amusing if it weren’t so disconcerting. As members of the so-called ‘news’ media pat themselves on the back for their supposed tough reporting on President Biden’s cognitive state, it’s hard not to chuckle at their sheer audacity. They tout their belated scrutiny as proof that they are not, in fact, in the tank for the president, as conservatives have long claimed. This ironic dismissal of reality serves only to underline the extent to which they’ve been willing to twist the narrative to protect a declining president while the Democratic agenda remained intact.
For years, the mainstream media has acted like a protective bubble around Biden, promoting the Big Lie of his cognitive sharpness while disdainfully dismissing anyone who dared observe his apparent decline. The term “cheap fakes,” a clever phrase invented by Biden’s camp, fell seamlessly into the media’s lexicon, as they vilified anyone who stuck to the uncomfortable truths they’d witnessed. Once it became evident that Biden was becoming a liability, the media wasted no time in flipping the script, ditching the inconvenient facts it had previously championed. A true testament to clearing the path for a new Democratic savior, as long as the Cause is satisfied.

With Biden’s political demise all but sealed, the media has quickly turned its attention back to its beloved Kamala Harris, providing her a soft landing in their narrative. Instead of delving into the myriad issues plaguing her administration—such as her glaringly ineffective handling of the border crisis—the media has opted for a far more glamorous approach, focusing on her wardrobe choices and the catchy tunes of her campaign themes. It’s a barrage of pop culture fluff, reminiscent of a celebrity gossip column rather than the serious reporting Americans might hope for during an election cycle.
The reality is that the media seems far more intent on protecting Harris than it ever was with Biden. While some might ponder if any tough questions will ever emerge about her past comments regarding Biden’s health, the current media climate suggests that scrutiny is likely to be nonexistent. As Biden’s health concerns fade from the headlines, Harris appears to be increasingly worshipped by a press corps that has seemingly nominal interest in asking the hard questions about her performance and policies. A lack of accountability has become almost expected, as her record continues to languish in obscurity.
Harris’s vulnerabilities are glaringly obvious to anyone not suffering from selective amnesia, yet it is the Republican Party that will need to do the heavy lifting in exposing them. The media is steadfast in its commitment to shield her from her past mistakes, making it imperative for conservative voices to highlight her ties to the administration’s path of utter chaos. Even as Harris spins her role in the border crisis, claiming to focus on root causes rather than addressing the issues straight on, the reality is that she is now part of a larger narrative that continues to spin wildly out of control. Somehow, the media will continue making excuses for her, but the results will speak louder than their fanciful embellishments.
