Boston Mayor Michelle Wu’s “honest mistake” in sending a controversial email to the entire City Council has stirred up quite the uproar among the good folks in Beantown. The email mix-up, which was only meant for the elected officials of color, has set tongues wagging and tempers flaring.
In a classic case of “whoopsie-daisy,” Wu’s right-hand woman, Denise DosSantos, mistakenly sent the letter to all 13 City Council members, creating quite the hullabaloo. Wu, the city’s first woman and person of color to serve as mayor, tried to smooth things over by saying, “we’ve all been in a position” of sending an email to the wrong person. But really, who hasn’t accidentally hit reply-all at least once in their life, am I right?
Ya sure. Mistake! BS Boston mayor calls 'electeds of color' email sent to entire council 'an honest mistake'https://t.co/egfLjhykHc

The email shenanigans sparked quite the controversy, with one white councilor, Frank Baker, calling the whole debacle “divisive” and “unfortunate.” While Baker didn’t personally take offense, he made it clear that he found the whole thing rather distasteful. And who can blame him? It’s not every day that a simple email invitation causes such a ruckus.
And now, to add more fuel to the fire, Mayor Wu, a Democrat, has been stirring up more attention since snagging the mayoral seat in November 2021. This whole email fiasco might just be a sign of things to come for Boston under her leadership.
The Washington Examiner did its due diligence in reaching out to Wu’s chief of communications for some clarity, but it seems like the Dems might be busy trying to control the damage caused by this inadvertent email saga. Oh, the drama!
