In a jaw-dropping display of evasion and arrogance, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas dodged questions about facing potential impeachment from House Republicans in a recent interview on Fox News. When pressed on whether he would resign if impeached, Mayorkas shamelessly deflected the question by boasting about the size of the Department of Homeland Security and spewing a laundry list of his supposed achievements.

It’s clear that Mayorkas is running scared as House Republicans ramp up efforts to hold him accountable for his catastrophic mishandling of the border crisis. Instead of taking responsibility for the unprecedented surge in illegal immigration and the utter chaos at the border, Mayorkas is desperately trying to save face by pointing fingers at everything from climate change to authoritarianism. It’s the classic liberal playbook: blame everyone and everything except for your own failures.
It’s outrageous that over 1 million illegal immigrants have been let loose into our country every year under Biden’s watch, with Mayorkas conveniently blaming the immigration system for the debacle. This is just another sad attempt by the Biden administration to shift the blame and avoid taking any meaningful action to secure our border and protect American sovereignty.
If Mayorkas is indeed impeached, he would be the first Cabinet member in over a century to face trial in the Senate. But don’t hold your breath for any real consequences from the Democratic-controlled Senate. It’s just another example of the swamp protecting its own, no matter the cost to the American people.
