The establishment media is certainly earning its keep these days, scrambling to spin the latest verbal misstep from President Joe Biden as he labels Trump supporters as “garbage.” The rhetorical acrobatics on display are impressive, turning a gaffe into a gymnastics routine worthy of a gold medal. Biden, while trying to rally Latino voters, got a bit too comfortable and showed his true colors—he doesn’t just dislike Trump; he has a genuine disdain for millions of Americans who support him.
One could almost hear the panic meters rising at media outlets as they attempted to reinterpret Biden’s remark. In what can only be described as a masterclass in deflection, the New York Times connected Biden’s language to Hillary Clinton’s infamous “basket of deplorables” comment from 2016. As if trying to duck and weave like a trained boxer, the Times reported that Trump’s campaign quickly seized on the moment, likening it to old wounds. Nostalgia for past blunders is a common human ailment among the left.
Media Tries Spinning Biden's "Garbage" Comment While It Becomes Defining… https://t.co/lFmEF6DUp6 via @YouTube

Biden’s slip occurred during a virtual event with a left-leaning group known as Voto Latino, where the president didn’t miss a beat before mentioning some crude remarks made by a Trump rally speaker. Yet after the far-left media had a field day with it, Biden’s team rolled out to do damage control, denying he meant to call Trump supporters “garbage” and instead claiming he was referencing the comedian Tony Hinchcliffe. It’s a surprising twist, considering that the president seemed to throw out his support base with the same careless ease he used to finish his ice cream.
Then came the trusty old “let’s nitpick the details” strategy. CBS News played a game of “What did he mean?” when they examined an apostrophe that may or may not have swayed the meaning of Biden’s remarks. What a perfect distraction from the fact that the sitting president is seemingly fine with insulting a significant chunk of the American populace. Apparently, the focus on grammar is more important than the implications of his comments. Good luck keeping the American people from catching on to that one.
The Associated Press didn’t fare any better with their own spin, essentially saying Biden “suggests” that Trump supporters are “garbage.” It’s noteworthy to observe how the media is tiptoeing around a clear insult; one might wonder if they found every synonym for “garbage” in the thesaurus to avoid being direct. Meanwhile, Americans’ trust in the media continues to plunge, with a recent Gallup poll showing that only 31 percent of the populace is confident that these outlets are reporting fairly. It might be easier for the media to tackle Biden’s slip-ups if they could muster a semblance of credibility.
Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris, supposed to be uniting Americans, delivered her own contradictory sermon of unity right after Biden’s comment. Just days after dubbing Trump a “fascist,” she claimed she would be the president for “all Americans.” If only there had been a comedic script writer to point out that the administration seems to have forgotten who “all Americans” are. If history tells us anything, the Biden-Harris administration has an odd definition of “unity” that often ends up with a trash can close by.
