One can only imagine the uproar had a conservative late-night host bombarded Jill Biden or Kamala Harris with mockery concerning their appearance. Perhaps Fallon and his ilk are unaware that not all attacks are based on substance and that mocking appearances is truly the lowest form of comedy—except when directed toward women on the right.
Underlying these hat-related musings lies a more profound truth about the modern media landscape. Instead of critical examinations of substantive issues, leftist outlets shiver at the thought of evaluating their party’s failures in leadership. Conspiracies regarding fashion seem preferable to reporting on the calamities seen during Biden’s presidency, such as deteriorating foreign relations and ballooning inflation. Rather than engage in the serious business of addressing significant national crises, they dissect hats. Perhaps they believe that Michael Myers wore a spooky mask for deeper meaning too.
