During her conversation with Carlson, Owens addressed Shapiro's criticism, dismissing it by stating, "Nobody warned me about it. It looks like maybe he didn’t know he was being recorded. It looks like it was some sort of a private event." She also commented on Shapiro's character, asserting, "I don’t think that the video speaks more to Ben’s character than it speaks to mine."
