Parents Group Challenges Racial Policies in Kingston School District

Parents Defending Education, an organization dedicated to standing up for parental rights, has been hard at work uncovering unacceptable policies and curriculum in schools across the country that seek to influence students with divisive ideologies. They have recently targeted the Kingston City School District in New York for what they believe to be discriminatory practices based on race.

The organization has accused the district of only allowing certain educators to participate in specific programs based on their immutable characteristics. They have also highlighted the goals and practices of the district’s Department of Diversity, suggesting that these initiatives are discriminatory and focused on race-conscious hiring rather than merit-based hiring.

Additionally, Parents Defending Education has criticized the district’s Equity in Action Committee for creating an environment that encourages discomfort, non-closure, and the recognition of privilege based on race. They have also raised concerns about the creation of an “Educators of Color Network” affinity group, which appears to exclusively support educators based on their race, without regard for qualifications or certifications.

Caroline Moore, vice president of Parents Defending Education, expressed her dismay at the situation, calling it an abuse of power and a misuse of taxpayer dollars. She emphasized the importance of students being surrounded by educators who excel in their fields and help them reach their potential, rather than being selected based on their race or gender identification.

Parents Defending Education has called for a prompt investigation by the Office for Civil Rights into the practices of the Kingston City School District, as well as any other school districts that have implemented similar diversity, equity, and inclusion departments.
