A recent poll has unveiled a rather unsurprising truth: the American public overwhelmingly trusts President-elect Donald Trump over outgoing President Joe Biden when it comes to keeping terrorists out of the United States. The poll, which came on the heels of a tragic New Year’s Day terrorist attack in New Orleans, paints a stark picture of public sentiment towards national security. It appears that many citizens believe that Trump’s proven record in foreign policy and border security offers a solid shield against extremist threats, a sentiment that has become ever more critical given the recent surge in global terrorism.
A whopping 60 percent of Americans expressed their confidence in Trump’s ability to provide safety from terrorism, dismissing Biden’s methods as inadequate at best. While Biden has claimed that white supremacy is the most lethal threat facing the homeland, the citizens of this country seem to prefer a little more reality with their national security meals. After all, the New Orleans attack particularly demonstrates that threats come in all shapes, shades, and motivations, and unfortunately, they often carry an unmistakable ISIS flag.

What’s even more eyebrow-raising is Biden’s response—or lack thereof—to the NOLA tragedy. As the nation mourned the deadliest terrorist attack on U.S. soil since September 11, 2001, the president hesitated to label the violence for what it was. This is the same leader who has purportedly funneled support while leading to a profound rise in global terrorism through his botched withdrawal from Afghanistan. One can’t help but wonder if he thinks a positive spin can obfuscate the reality of his failed policies.
Moreover, Biden’s track record raises significant concerns about funding terrorism. By leaving billions of dollars worth of military equipment in Afghanistan and allowing the Taliban to reclaim the country, the outgoing president essentially bolstered a known terrorist organization and ushered in an era of uncertainty for American security. The Taliban’s resurgence was nothing short of a strategic blunder, and critics are questioning whether taxpayer dollars have inadvertently supported the very terrorists that the administration fails to confront directly.
As the American people reflect on these circumstances, it becomes clear why many now look back fondly on Trump’s administration. Instead of burying their heads in the sand, citizens demand robust security measures that address the realities of a lingering international threat. With increasing terrorist incidents rattling the nation, the public is ready for leaders who take national defense seriously—and they appear to be placing their faith in Trump as the answer to restore a sense of safety and security.
