In a heated exchange of words, Gov. J.B. Pritzker of Illinois, a Democrat, took a jab at Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida, a Republican, suggesting that he lacks the intelligence needed to be president. The primary source of contention between the two governors is a law signed by Pritzker that permits illegal immigrants to serve as police officers. DeSantis condemned the decision, claiming that it poses a threat to American citizenship and sovereignty. Pritzker responded by questioning DeSantis’s intellectual abilities.

Expressing his disapproval on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Pritzker stated, “This man isn’t smart enough to be president.” He further defended his decision to approve the legislation by pointing out that legal permanent residents and DACA recipients in Illinois already serve in the military. Pritzker believes that allowing them to become police officers is the right thing to do, despite what he perceives as misinformation from right-wing sources.

He criticized Pritzker’s law as disregarding the importance of citizenship, proclaiming, “Illinois is now letting illegal aliens become police officers.” In contrast, DeSantis emphasized the value that Florida places on citizen officers who protect and serve their communities. He vowed to prioritize American sovereignty and expressed his bewilderment that the issue was even up for debate in the United States.
From a conservative perspective, it is essential to protect American citizenry and maintain the integrity of the nation’s immigration system. Granting illegal immigrants the authority to serve as police officers raises valid concerns about potential security risks and a lack of respect for the rule of law. DeSantis’s commitment to restoring American sovereignty should be applauded, as it reflects the conservative values of upholding the rights and interests of American citizens.
