Looks like another Democrat is trying to sweep their dirty laundry under the rug. Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) has conveniently parted ways with a staffer who made an eye-raising and downright disturbing comment on social media about the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. Jacqueline Marsaw, one of Thompson’s faithful aides, decided to spice up her Facebook feed by suggesting that next time someone tries to take out Trump, they should get better shooting lessons. Now that’s the level-headed discourse the Democrats claim to champion, right?
Thompson’s office confirmed Marsaw’s departure but conveniently left the masses guessing whether she was fired or opted to resign. No surprise there, as Democrats rarely miss a chance to muddy the waters instead of providing straight answers. Of course, Thompson took the high road with the classic political playbook maneuver: a brief statement to deflect attention, sans any real transparency.
Now, in since-deleted posts, Marsaw showed her true colors by posting that she doesn’t condone violence, but hey, maybe learn to shoot better for next time. What a killer sense of humor! She even pondered whether the incident was staged and chalked it up to Trump’s “hate speech.” Because clearly, in leftist-land, free speech and political opinions not in sync with the liberal agenda deserve a bullet.

When the shooting at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania stirred the pot, Thompson managed to put out a carefully tailored statement. He solemnly noted that there’s no room for political violence in American democracy and was grateful for Trump’s safety. Thoughts and prayers neatly packaged to appease both sides of the aisle—not a bad performance for someone whose staff spews vitriol online.
At the end of the day, Rep. Thompson’s handling of this situation highlights what conservatives have suspected all along. The Democrats talk a good game about peace and democracy, but scratch the surface, and the reality is far less savory. Marsaw’s astonishing lack of decorum is another glaring example of the double standard in political discourse today.
