San Francisco Mayor London Breed recently made a surprising admission during an interview with CNBC. In the interview, Breed stated that if she had the opportunity, she would eliminate most taxes in the city “tomorrow.” As a conservative Republican, it’s refreshing to hear a liberal politician recognize the burden that excessive taxation places on hardworking Americans.
Breed’s remarks come at a time when many cities and states across the country are facing economic hardships due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Rather than considering tax cuts to stimulate economic growth and provide relief for struggling residents and small businesses, many liberal leaders have instead proposed increasing taxes on the wealthy and businesses. Breed’s willingness to question this approach is commendable.
San Francisco Mayor: We Should ‘Get Rid of Most Taxes’ to Attract Businesses
First they taxed businesses and citizens to death to fund their crime infested utopic but now they are desperate. SF is a failed city. Businesses and people are fleeing as criminals and the homeless… pic.twitter.com/tXYIjPIUoU

However, it’s important to note that Breed’s comments are still just words. It remains to be seen whether she will take any concrete steps to reduce the tax burden on San Francisco residents. As a conservative, I am skeptical of politicians who make promises without backing them up with action.
Nevertheless, Breed’s acknowledgment that excessive taxes can be detrimental to economic growth is a step in the right direction. It’s time for politicians on both sides of the aisle to recognize the importance of fiscal responsibility and the negative impact of excessive taxation on the economy. Hopefully, Breed’s comments will encourage other liberal leaders to reconsider their stance on taxation and prioritize the financial well-being of their constituents.
