The shoplifting chaos has reached an all-time high in San Francisco, and even CNN couldn’t escape the madness. In a jaw-dropping turn of events, the news network witnessed not one, not two, but three thefts happen right before their very eyes in just 30 minutes. Talk about a shoplifting marathon!

To combat this madness, stores in the city are resorting to extreme measures. CNN captured footage of heavy chains and padlocks securing the freezer section. Yup, you read that right. They had to lock up ice cream like it was a precious national treasure. It’s a sad state of affairs when even frozen treats aren’t safe from the grasp of criminals.
It’s why workers at this Richmond area San Francisco Walgreens grew so frustrated that they resorted to chaining the freezer section. Corporate ordered it down bc of the negative messaging it sent. But the problem remains— unabated theft. pic.twitter.com/6U4Yaj9I1Z

In San Francisco, we went to the Walgreens that is the #1 spot for theft in all the 9000 US stores, per Walgreens. This is where chains once shut the freezer section. And we saw 3 thefts right in front of us. But across SF, coffee, mustard, nail polish– are all locked up: pic.twitter.com/IfYBVgpeI2

San Francisco resident, Richie Greenberg, summed it up perfectly when he said, “This is just more icing on the cake telling us that rampant crime has become a regular part of life.” And boy, is he right. It’s absolutely mind-boggling that shoplifting has become so normalized that people aren’t even surprised to witness it on camera.
CNN’s Kyung Lah wasn’t only reporting the news; she was practically living it. As she covered the story, Lah witnessed a young man brazenly stroll out of a Walgreens, right past their cameras, without paying for a single item. Talk about having zero shame! It’s a sad day when thieves have the audacity to taunt honest, hardworking folks without fear of repercussions.
But wait, there’s more! Just a few months ago, CNN had the audacity to claim that the “numbers” didn’t support the notion that shoplifting is a national crisis. Well, folks, three thefts happening in a 30-minute span right in front of their cameras should be evidence enough. It’s almost as if they’re trying to downplay the seriousness of the situation. Classic liberal media tactics, if you ask me.
It’s clear that San Francisco is facing a shoplifting epidemic. With thieves running amok and retailers resorting to locking up ice cream, it’s high time the city takes decisive action to restore law and order. Maybe, just maybe, stricter punishments and more proactive law enforcement might deter these criminals. But until then, keep an eye on your wallets and your freezers, because no item is safe in the shoplifting capital of America.
