Another day, another assassination attempt on Donald Trump. In an astonishingly short span of two months, a second shooter, armed with a scoped rifle, thought nudging a bullet toward the former president while he swung a golf club would be a productive use of their time. The scene unfolded at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, where the Secret Service thankfully proved their effectiveness yet again, managing to catch the assailant before things turned ugly. Apparently, “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take,” doesn’t just apply to hockey, but also to wannabe assassins with questionable decision-making skills.
The key inquiry here shouldn’t just revolve around the shooter, but rather why these alarming incidents are occurring at all. Earlier this year, a similar situation happened in Butler, Pennsylvania, leading many to speculate about glaring lapses in security that seemed to go unaddressed. How does one get so close to firing a rifle at a former president? Asking these questions, however, doesn’t seem to be on the agenda for the liberal media. Their foremost concern appears to be how such attempts could affect Trump’s polling numbers—or worse, how they might be leveraged to benefit him politically.

Take the CNN crowd, for example. One anchor, who fancies herself an expert on all things Trump, couldn’t help but speculate on how the assassination attempt could “impact voters.” Because you know, nothing rallies the electorate quite like an attempted assassination — or so she worries. The fact that some people might view Trump as a martyr rather than a political liability seems to keep her up at night. Maybe next time, the media should consider why their unhinged and relentless attacks on Trump might be pushing some over the edge into violent and desperate actions instead of sticking to their favorite blame game.
Interestingly, while the media dissected the political implications of violence against Trump, the shooter’s son confirmed that daddy dearest was a card-carrying anti-Trumper. Surprise, surprise. It seems the vitriol spewing from the left may be creating the very monsters they claim to oppose. The topic of the media’s correlation between their own rhetoric and political violence remains a silent conversation, buried under mountains of their anxiety about potential optics. Just imagine if the media applied the same energy to discuss how their narrative fosters this sort of extremism rather than entertaining their audience with hypotheticals about how bloodied Trump selfies could affect turnout.
As the dust settles, it’s clear the media’s knee-jerk reaction will be to memory-hole yet another startling event. How quaint it is to witness their attempts to sweep major security failures, reckless rhetoric, and two assassination attempts under the proverbial rug — just like the last time. One can only wonder if they’ll ever connect their actions with the violent consequences or if they’ll continue playing politics while the rest of America is left to fend for itself.
