In Wednesday night’s GOP debate, one of the moderators, Stuart Varney, had a little mishap when he stumbled over the name of his fellow moderator, Ilia Calderón. Oopsie daisy! This slip-up might have been a sign of things to come, as the debate turned out to be quite chaotic. The debate was hosted by Fox Business, but it seemed they were ill-prepared without their star player, former President Donald Trump.
Speaking of Trump, he decided to skip the debate and instead gave a speech to the striking United Auto Workers in Michigan. Smart move, Mr. President! While the low-polling candidates bickered on stage, Trump was making moves to take on President Joe Biden in a head-to-head match. It’s clear that Trump is still the frontrunner in the Republican Party, with sky-high approval ratings. The other candidates at the debate struggled to stay relevant and grab any air time.
Even though Trump wasn’t physically present at the debate, he made sure his voice was heard. On his new social media platform, Truth Social, he called out Varney for allegedly mixing up his polling numbers with rival Ron DeSantis. Trump wasn’t going to let anyone twist the narrative on his success!
And let’s not forget about the internet trolls. As expected, they had a field day with Varney’s slip of the tongue. One viewer went as far as calling him a “drunk orangutan.” Ouch!
Overall, it’s clear that without Trump, the Republican Party is struggling to find its footing. They need a strong leader to guide them, and Trump seems to be the only one who fits the bill. This debate was just another example of the chaos and lack of direction in the GOP. It’s time for them to regroup and figure out a game plan if they want to take on Biden and the Democrats.
