Minnesota has once again made national headlines for taking a turn towards absurdity. Governor Tim Walz, a Democrat, recently signed a law that will allow illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses. Yep, you heard that right. Even though they’re here illegally, in Minnesota, they’ll soon be cruising around town with a legal driver’s license, thanks to this new law.

The “driver’s licenses for all” law, according to a press release from the governor’s office, will allow all residents to obtain a driver’s license, regardless of their immigration status. So, now people who snuck into the country illegally can now drive, but they still can’t vote. It’s crazy to think that people who are in the country illegally can obtain a driver’s license without proving their citizenship or lawful presence in the United States. This new law, which was opposed by Republican lawmakers, will inevitably lead to election and benefits fraud.

The argument presented by Governor Walz is that his new law will make the roads safer, but how is giving illegal immigrants a legal driver’s license making the roads safer? It actually does the opposite! Besides, isn’t the idea of being here illegally, you know, illegal? This is just a pathetic attempt by the left to reward illegal behavior.
It’s worth noting that this is not the first time that such a law has been passed. 18 other states and Washington, D.C. have authorized driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants, so why not let Minnesota join the clown show too? With this law in place, it’s no wonder that more states are now considering allowing illegal immigrants to vote in municipal and state elections.
Minnesota has always been a state where law and order are respected, but now its residents are forced to sit back and watch as their state embraces a dangerous and lawless culture. It’s a shame that the state’s leadership fails to understand the importance of citizens following the rules and respecting our nation’s laws. What’s next? Free healthcare for illegal immigrants? Oh wait, that’s already happening in some states.
Hopefully, the state’s Republicans can regroup and undo this preposterous law. Until then, Minnesotans might just have to share the roads with illegal immigrants who are driving around legally.
