Should Netflix Face Bud-Light Backlash? Kids Show Now Woke!

CoComelon, the popular Netflix show for toddlers, is taking its mission to “expand the minds of little ones” to a whole new level. Not content with its usual nursery rhyme repertoire, the show has now decided that it’s time for our babies to learn about a family with two daddies. And if that wasn’t enough, they’ve thrown in a little boy dancing around in a tutu. Because, you know, we have to protect them from those evil cultural norms that parents might actually want to instill in their children.

But don’t just take my word for it. Take 39 seconds to watch the clip posted on social media by the account “End Wokeness.” I won’t lie, it made me want to scream some not-so-nice words. Thankfully, I’ve been cleansed of that kind of language, but I can’t say the same for my thoughts on this matter.

It’s hard to believe that kids have logged over 600 million hours watching CoComelon in the first half of 2023. That’s more time than most adults spend at work! And if you combine all six seasons of the show, it would be the fourth most popular program on Netflix. Not too shabby for a show aimed at children who are barely beyond the baby stage.

There is some hope, though. Commentators like Matt Walsh and Mary Beth Stuckey are pushing back against this nonsense. Walsh suggests that Netflix needs the “full Bud Light treatment” for this. But let’s not forget that Bud Light is a product limited to adults, while CoComelon is aimed at very young children. And now they’re being subjected to little boys in tutus.
