In a shocking turn of events, it has been revealed that Special Counsel Jack Smith obtained a search warrant for former President Donald Trump’s Twitter account back in January. The warrant specifically instructed Twitter not to inform Trump about the investigation. Talk about sneaky! 🕵️♂️

According to court documents, the search warrant was based on ex parte affidavits and the district court found probable cause to search Trump’s Twitter account for evidence of criminal offenses. But that’s not all, folks! The court also determined that disclosing the warrant to Trump would seriously jeopardize the ongoing investigation. Turns out, they thought he might have a little evidence-destroying spree on his hands if he knew about it. Can you blame them? 😏
But the drama doesn’t end there. When the government initially tried to serve Twitter with the warrant and nondisclosure order, they faced some difficulties. The social media giant decided to put up a fight and argued that the whole thing was a violation of the First Amendment. As for Twitter, they justified their decision to ban Trump by citing the risk of further incitement of violence. They claimed that his tweets were being interpreted in a dangerous way, and in the wake of the Capitol incident, they had to take action. Hmm, sounds like a convenient excuse to silence a conservative voice. 🤔
