Hot on the heels of Trump’s appearance, former Steelers stars Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell reminded fans of their roots in Pittsburgh by attending Trump’s rally just the day before. Brown’s remarks resonated with many as he linked Trump’s values of hard work and loyalty to the essence of what it means to be a member of the Steelers. Perhaps that’s what many are missing in today’s political landscape—genuine loyalty and hard work, rather than performance art disguised as politics.

Of course, the Steelers’ communications director had to weigh in with the news that Trump was attending as “a guest of an individual suite holder.” Sure, a formality perhaps, but that likely did nothing to diminish the fireworks lighting up the stadium. What’s clearer than ever is that Trump’s popularity remains strong among sports fans, and the sheer energy from the crowd serves as a reminder that he’s got an unshakeable connection with the very people who embody the American spirit—a connection that rivals any touchdown celebration.
