In a shocking turn of events, horror writer Stephen King has once again emerged from the depths of his eerie imagination to dabble in the world of politics. Known for his gruesome tales and disturbing narratives, King decided to take a break from his supernatural conflicts to engage in a real-life political feud with none other than Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz.
It all started when Cruz, concerned about the ongoing crisis at the southern border, took to Twitter to express his dismay. Sharing footage from a recent appearance on “Fox & Friends,” Cruz highlighted the severity of the situation and criticized President Joe Biden’s handling of the border crisis. He stated, “It’s never been remotely this bad. This is an invasion, and our families are less safe because Joe Biden is president.”

Enter Stephen King, who apparently couldn’t resist the opportunity to insert himself into the political ring. Ignoring his usual eerie themes, King decided to dig up an incident from 2021 when Cruz traveled to Cancun during a winter storm that left many Texans without power. With a sly jibe, King reminded Cruz of his sunny escapades, sarcastically asking, “You’ve also spent a lot of time in Cancun. That’s pretty south, right?”
But Cruz, always quick on his feet, didn’t let King’s snarky comment go unanswered. He fired back by calling out the author for his left-leaning politics and ridiculed him for his luxurious lifestyle in his mansion in Maine. Cruz went on to accuse King of turning a blind eye to the suffering of migrants and the victims of sexual assault at the border while indulging in petty jabs about Cancun.
It’s no surprise that King couldn’t resist responding to Cruz’s retorts. Bringing up the senator’s own wealth, King pointed out that Cruz is worth a hefty $3 million and questioned how well he was taking care of his constituents amidst the ongoing crisis. Clearly, King couldn’t resist reminding Cruz of his own privileged position, even in the midst of their political squabble.
This isn’t the first time King and Cruz have clashed. Back in 2018, the horror writer took to Twitter to unleash a series of insults against the senator, calling him “kinda creepy” and even going as far as likening him to a “slimy crawdad.” It seems like King has a penchant for theatrics both in his novels and on social media.
The confrontation between King and Cruz serves as a reminder that even in the world of horror and politics, no one is safe from a good old-fashioned feud. While King may be a master of weaving terrifying tales, his foray into political banter leaves much to be desired. Perhaps it’s time for him to stick to conjuring up fictional nightmares rather than engaging in real-life political conflicts.
