At the recent Conservative Political Action Conference, former Breitbart chairman Stephen K. Bannon declared war on Fox News, the network that has been a beacon of hope for conservatives for years. Bannon’s fiery rhetoric was met with cheers from the crowd as he railed against Fox News for their softer stance on issues and their controversial Arizona returns during the 2020 election. He vowed that he and the rest of the Trump camp would fight Fox News every step of the way, with the ultimate goal of erasing any traces of billionaire executive Rupert Murdoch from his network.

Bannon’s attack on Fox News is misguided and short-sighted. While it is understandable to be frustrated with some of Fox’s coverage as of late, burning it all down is not the answer. Fox News is one of the few media outlets that provides a platform for conservative voices and ideas. Without Fox News, conservatives would be at a significant disadvantage, as there were only two methods to counter liberal narratives before Fox News: talk radio and letters to the editor.

Furthermore, Fox News is more on-target than other networks like CNN and MSNBC. No one bats .1000, and it is unfair to expect perfection from Fox News. It is important to remember that Fox News has been a source of support for conservatives for years, and it would be a tragedy to see it destroyed by the very people it has supported.
The Trump base should be wary of Bannon’s call to arms against Fox News. His rhetoric may be inspiring in the moment, but it could have serious consequences for conservatives in the long run. It is important to remember that Fox News is an important ally in the fight against liberal media bias, and it should not be taken for granted.
