Supreme Court Ruling Strengthens Trump’s Immunity Weakens Democrats’ Case

The legal circus surrounding former President Donald Trump has taken yet another intriguing turn, as the Supreme Court has handed down a ruling that could throw a wrench in the Democrats’ relentless pursuit of his political scalp. Once put on ice, Trump’s D.C. criminal case is now set to heat back up, but it appears that the accusations levelled against him are weaker than a decaf coffee at a liberal coffee shop.

The Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice John Roberts, established that, regarding a president’s core constitutional powers, immunity should be as absolute as a toddler’s conviction that they can fly if they jump off the couch. According to the ruling, Trump’s alleged discussions with Justice Department officials—and any actions taken in his official capacity—are essentially immune from prosecution. Perhaps the Democrats forgot that the rule of law still applies to their grandstanding efforts, especially when they have to confront the Constitution itself.

Meanwhile, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan is expected to get her gavel back in action to figure out how this ruling applies in the courtroom. But, with some charges looming over Trump’s head looking about as solid as a soap bubble, many legal experts are starting to suggest that parts of the indictment may very well fall flat. The notion that a president’s motives can be poked and prodded in an attempt to play Mix and Match with official versus unofficial conduct has been put on notice. Turns out, Democrats might want to rethink their strategy; politics may not be as simple as they once thought.

Interestingly, even if the case does miraculously make it to trial, the clock is ticking. With the presidential election just around the corner in November, the likelihood of a full-blown courtroom showdown before voters cast their ballots is slimmer than a vegan cheeseburger. Special Counsel Jack Smith’s ambitious charges could very well evaporate in the face of this new Supreme Court guidance, leaving him floundering for relevance.

Adding to Smith’s woes, Judge Aileen Cannon recently tossed out another one of his attempts against Trump in Florida related to the handling of documents. Cannon’s dismissal of the charges hinged on the constitutional principle that appointments must adhere to the standards set by the Constitution. Apparently, for Team Biden, following the Constitution is as optional as a book club meeting for the average Senator.

In the wake of these legal setbacks, Trump has been ramping up his rhetoric, threatening to sue Smith for the infamous raid on Mar-a-Lago. The real question on everybody’s minds is what legal hot air Trump could possibly use against Smith since the chaos began only after federal agents stormed his estate. This entire saga continues to illustrate how desperate the left has become to disrupt a political rival, and frankly, it is entertaining to watch them fumble each time they take a swing.
