A recent poll conducted by Quinnipiac University states that Americans’ confidence in the Supreme Court has drooped to an all-time low. Shockingly, the poll shows that 58% of respondents disapprove of the job done by America’s highest judicial body. It is no surprise that two-thirds of respondents say that justices are mainly motivated by politics, and only 36% of Republicans voiced disapproval.
The poll recorded a sharp partisan divide with 85% of registered Democrats believing that the Court is primarily driven by politics. The survey shows that most Americans think that the charges against Donald Trump were political, which was backed by 91% of Republicans in the same poll. However, the poll also shows that this view is shared by 65% of independent voters and even 28% of Democrats.
The results of the poll further revealed that 78% of Democrats believe that Supreme Court justices should have a limited serve. This view, however, did not receive a large majority from Independent voters, with only 51% being in support of this idea, while 42% were opposed. It is unfortunate that the Supremes have not been doing their job adequately, as the people giving their judgments should be motivated by the law, not personal interests.
Americans see federal criminal charges against #DonaldTrump as serious, 51% say he should be prosecuted, 62% say politics is motivating DOJ's case; #SCOTUS job approval hits all-time low https://t.co/xC4wad2hM5

As the Quinnipiac University polling analyst Tim Malloy noted, Americans have harshly judged the highest court, and this poll is a testament to it. Americans believe that political motives underly the proceedings behind the proposed charges against Trump, and this undermines the integrity of the nation’s judicial system.
