Top Democrat Jamie Raskin Urges Biden to Step Down in Leaked Letter

Jamie Raskin, a leading Democrat from Maryland and a key member of the Capitol riot investigation panel, has decided to make public the letter he privately sent to Joe Biden on July 4th. It seems that Raskin has joined the growing chorus of top Democrats calling on Biden to exit the stage gracefully.

What’s truly remarkable about this letter is how Raskin subtly reminds Biden of his own words. Raskin quotes Biden’s own claim that the campaign is not about him but about America and its people. Yet, here we are, witnessing a man who refuses to step down despite the pleas of many in his own party. It’s ironic, to say the least, that Biden would accuse Trump of being a wannabe “king” while clinging desperately to power himself.

In the letter, Raskin writes:
“Donald Trump’s campaign is about him, not America,” you said. “Our campaign is different; for me and Kamala, our campaign is about America. It’s about you. It’s about every age and background that occupy this country. It’s about the future we’re going to continue to build together.”

“America made a vow,” you told us, and it was not a vow to one party, much less to one person. It was the very opposite of the politics of vanity and self-importance.”

The timing of the letter being made public seems purposeful, a strategic move to increase pressure on Biden after his refusal to heed the calls of his own party to step down. Raskin showers Biden with praise in the letter, hailing his presidency as one of the greatest in American history. If one were to read this letter without any knowledge of the past four years, they would believe that Biden is a true American hero. However, those who have experienced the reality of the Biden presidency will find themselves scratching their heads at Raskin’s summary.

Joe Biden and this letter are a clear example of a career politician who knows all the right things to say but has no intention of following through. This is the type of deception that has become the norm in American politics, fueling the frustration and discontent that led to the rise of Donald Trump.

While Raskin’s letter is filled with references to patriotism, heroism, and legacy, many Americans see a man who is using his position of power for personal gain and refuses to let go. There is nothing heroic about that.

It is widely expected that Trump will easily win and Republicans could gain control of both the House and Senate. Democrats know that their days are numbered. Yet, Biden is willing to jeopardize his party, ignore the advice of his own allies, and prioritize his thirst for power over everything else. If he is willing to do this to his friends and colleagues, how can we expect him to prioritize the interests of the American people?

Raskin even goes so far as to compare Biden to George Washington, a comparison that leaves many puzzled. He urges Biden to choose the noble path:

“And, by the way,” he writes, “when Washington got elected president, he could have stayed for two, three, four, five terms, until he died. But that wasn’t the America he and the American troops at Valley Forge had fought for.”

“In America,” Raskin argues, “genuine leaders–democratic leaders, with a small ‘d’–don’t cling to power relentlessly. Our leaders return power to the people. And they do it willingly because that’s the deal. You do your duty. You serve your country.”

When Raskin sent this letter over the July 4th holiday, he must have anticipated a response that would align with the noble character he described in Biden. However, karma had a different plan. Now, he releases the letter in hopes that it will gain momentum and prompt Biden to face reality. Unfortunately, from what we have seen of the president, it’s unlikely that he will acquiesce to the Democrats’ wishes.

This is what it feels like to have a leader who places his own interests above those of the people. This is what we have experienced under Democratic rule. The left is finally getting a taste of its own medicine, and it’s about time. Americans need to observe, learn, and remember.
