A recent study has shed light on the heightened health risks faced by individuals who identify as transgender and undergo hormone therapy to affirm their gender identity. This research, which was published in the European Journal of Endocrinology, conducted a comparative analysis of health data from 2,671 transgender individuals against a control group comprising 26,700 people. The study discovered a significant increase in the risk of heart disease among both transgender men and women when compared to the control group.
For transgender women undergoing estrogen therapy, the risk of heart-related issues was found to be 93% higher than that of the control group men and 73% higher than that of the control group women. On the other hand, transgender men receiving testosterone treatment exhibited a 2.2 times greater risk of cardiovascular conditions compared to the control group men and a 63% higher risk compared to the control group women. The most frequently observed cardiovascular problems among the study participants included high blood pressure and abnormal lipid levels in the blood.

Dr. Dorte Glintborg, the principal author of the study, explained that hormone treatments in transgender women could lead to an increase in fat mass and a decrease in lean body mass. These changes are associated with a heightened risk of autoimmune diseases and inflammation. This study reinforces the argument that transgender individuals face unique health challenges that should be carefully considered when making decisions about gender-affirming medical care.
It is concerning that certain left-wing organizations and lawmakers persist in supporting gender-affirming medical care for minors, despite evidence indicating potential health risks. A recent expose revealed that Vanderbilt University Medical Center was conducting irreversible and experimental surgeries on children solely for financial gain. This prompted GOP Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance to introduce legislation aimed at prohibiting such surgeries for minors. The aim is to safeguard young Americans from potential long-term physical and emotional harm.
