In a recent interview on Newsmax, Trump’s attorney Alina Habba expressed her frustration with the leaks and charges being brought against her client by Special Counsel Jack Smith’s office. She referred to these developments as a “publicity stunt” and criticized the justice system for not being blind and impartial.
During the interview, Habba claimed that the information they had learned about the case was primarily through leaks from the Department of Justice (DOJ) rather than from the attorneys who were actually meeting with the DOJ. She criticized this situation, stating that it was concerning that she, who wasn’t even present at the meeting, was hearing about it through leaks, while the attorneys who were in the meeting were not being properly informed. Habba viewed this as an example of the state of America’s justice system.

Habba further argued that the leaks and statements made by the DOJ on Twitter about the status of a private grand jury investigation were highly inappropriate and a breach of privilege. She believed that this behavior demonstrated the corrupt and fearful nature of the justice system, which she believed was scared of Donald Trump potentially exposing their corruption.
When asked if this misconduct by the DOJ was grounds for dismissing the case, Habba expressed her belief that it was. She criticized the prosecutorial misconduct she claimed to have seen across many of these cases, stating that it was not how the justice system and attorneys were supposed to operate.
Habba also connected these developments to the poll numbers showing Trump’s popularity against Joe Biden. She believed that the American public was not foolish and could see how the DOJ’s actions were damaging the president’s reputation. She suggested that the American people were starting to realize that this was not a fair and just system.
Finally, when asked about how Trump was personally handling all of this, Habba stated that he and his family were resilient and strong. She portrayed Trump as a fighter who was determined to restore the country and believed in his mission, despite the efforts to harm him.
