According to a recent poll conducted by the Wall Street Journal, Donald Trump is maintaining his lead over his conservative rivals in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. 59% of the survey's respondents support the former president.
A new poll conducted by the Wall Street Journal shows that the gap between Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis, the Republican governor of Florida, has doubled since April. The former's lead over the latter has now increased to 46 points. Only 13% of the respondents supported DeSantis.
Back in April, DeSantis had a favorable poll result, with around 37% of the respondents stating their support for him. Nonetheless, he has consistently been in second place behind Donald Trump in subsequent polls, even at a significant distance.
The survey also revealed that Trump and Congressman Ron DeSantis' favorability ratings dropped. While 75% of the respondents had a favorable view of Trump, his rating decreased by 3%. On the other hand, DeSantis' favorable rating went from 84% to 70%.

The other candidates in the race for the Republican nomination have also struggled to make a significant impact in the polls. Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, currently stands at third place with 8% support. On the other hand, biotech entrepreneur and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy managed to secure 5% of the respondents' support.
Among the other prominent politicians who are in the race for the Republican nomination are former governor of New Jersey Chris Christie and US Senator Tim Scott. Mike Pence and governors of Arkansas and South Dakota, Asa Hutchinson and Doug Bergum, respectively, have 2% support.
The legal issues surrounding Trump didn't seem to have an impact on his poll results. The survey revealed that a surprising 60% of the respondents believe that the criminal and indictment charges against the president were politically motivated. 48% of them support Trump due to these charges.
The survey also indicated that if the presidential election were held today, Trump and Biden would be in a tight race. A total of 1,500 voters were surveyed, and 40% of them supported Trump, while 39% supported Biden.
Despite the various legal issues that have been presented to the president, Trump's standing among Republican voters has remained strong. This is a major factor that has helped him maintain his lead over his conservative rivals in the race for the nomination.
