It seems Hollywood’s glamorous elitism blinds even those who’ve benefited the most from conservative achievements. Former President Trump’s disappointment with reality star-turned-justice advocate Kim Kardashian is hardly surprising, given the recent revelations. After all, it’s not every day that a pop culture icon gets a hand up from the White House, only to turn around and side with the opposition because it’s the “cool” Hollywood move.
In recordings making the rounds, Trump felt deeply stung by Kardashian’s enthusiastic support for Biden post-2020 election. The author of “Apprentice in Wonderland,” a book chronicling Trump’s reality TV days, claims Trump was genuinely hurt by her social media endorsement of Biden. One must imagine that seeing joyful heart emojis cheering for Biden-Harris on Kardashian’s feed was quite a betrayal for Trump, especially after his support for her.

Let’s not forget that during his presidency, Trump worked side-by-side with Kardashian to pass the First Step Act, an unprecedented move in federal sentencing reform. This was a landmark legislation for criminal justice and the federal prison system. Kardashian’s alignment with Biden after such significant bipartisan success is, to say the least, an ungrateful departure.
On the recordings, Trump pointed out his disappointment with Kardashian, noting the substantial work he put into prison reforms that likely wouldn’t have happened without his intervention. He’s not wrong. The reality star turned would-be activist ventured into the troubled waters of prison reform and only found her sea legs with Trump’s backing. Yet, in an industry where social media popularity trumps genuine loyalty, her eventual endorsement of Biden seemed to be a Hollywood networking move rather than one based on principle.
And then there’s Ramin Setoodeh, trying to cash in on the never-ending fascination with Trump by writing “Apprentice in Wonderland.” His knack for distorting Trump’s accomplishments and echoing the hallmarks of Trump Derangement Syndrome isn’t novel. The book, released this month, offers yet another biased perspective, losing sight of Trump’s real impacts on entertainment and politics.
While Kardashian now cozies up to the Biden administration, meeting Vice President Kamala Harris and pushing for criminal justice reforms, it’s apparent that the Hollywood crowd will always value “coolness” over substance. In the end, Trump’s feelings of betrayal are well-founded but not surprising when dealing with the inherently fickle nature of Hollywood elites.
