Trump Gains Black Voter Support, Leads Biden in Swing States

Former President Donald Trump is making big gains in support from black voters, according to recent polls. These polls show Mr. Trump leading in seven swing states that will likely determine who will be the next President. These states include Arizona, North Carolina, and Nevada, where Mr. Trump is ahead of his rival, President Biden, by nearly 5 percentage points.

The former president’s lead in the swing states is largely due to the support from black voters who have abandoned Mr. Biden in significant numbers. They are turning away from Mr. Biden mainly because of their concerns about the economy. Mr. Trump’s internal polling also shows an increase in support from black voters in these crucial battleground states.

Mr. Trump is aiming to win over even more minority voters by promising to improve the economy, secure the southern border, and reduce crime rates. He recently held a rally in the South Bronx, a traditionally Democratic area with a large population of black and Hispanic residents. The enthusiastic reception Mr. Trump received there is a sign of the declining support for Mr. Biden among non-white voters, especially young non-white men.

If Mr. Trump can increase his support among black voters by just a few percentage points, it could cost Mr. Biden these critical swing states that he narrowly won in 2020. For example, in Georgia, where Mr. Biden won by a small margin, about 30% of the registered electorate are black voters. Recent polls show Mr. Trump ahead in Georgia, with increased support from black voters.

Mr. Trump’s support among black voters has significantly grown in the battleground states, including Georgia, Nevada, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Arizona. On average, 23% of black voters now favor Mr. Trump, up from 9% in 2020. Meanwhile, Mr. Biden’s support among black voters appears to have decreased significantly.

The declining support for Mr. Biden among black voters has prompted his campaign to increase efforts to reach out to them. However, the polls showing rising support for Mr. Trump among black voters suggest a lack of enthusiasm for Mr. Biden, which could impact voter turnout in his favor in November.

Overall, the polls indicate a challenging road ahead for the Biden campaign in winning support among black voters, which could have a significant impact on the outcome of the election in these critical swing states.
