On one side stands Vice President Kamala Harris, who looks ready to claim her Democratic nomination in a matter of weeks. And the other? Former President Donald Trump, the fighter who seems to relish the challenge.
Harris is armed with an arsenal of far-left policies, many of which seem more like a recipe for disaster than a plan for progress. Defunding the police? Check. Keeping the southern border wide open while the nation raises its collective eyebrow? Double check. Offshore drilling? Throw that out the window too. And who could forget the ongoing crusade against the Second Amendment? Pollster Frank Luntz has pointed out that trumping Harris may just take one simple, ten-word question: “Can you name one thing she accomplished as Vice President?” For anyone attempting to answer that query, it becomes obvious that Harris’ term has been marked more by inaction than achievement. Conversations in places like the American Federation of Teachers’ Convention reveal just how little voters know about her contributions. One attendee even admitted a complete lack of awareness regarding her record. In sharp contrast, Trump’s accomplishments and clarity in messaging give voters a stark reminder of what real leadership looks like.
Luntz also encourages Trump to focus on Harris’ record, specifically her time as California Attorney General and her lackluster role in the current Biden administration. Rather than get personal, he suggests Trump should maintain a focus on accountability and real issues. After all, nobody appreciates a good old-fashioned mudslinging match; they do, however, expect officials to hold each other accountable for the results—or lack thereof. And in the case of Harris, it seems the policy failures are piling up higher than her campaign promises.
In a recent New York Times poll, Trump is leading Harris, albeit by a slim margin of just one percentage point, showing 48% to her 47%. Crucial battleground states, which could determine the outcome of the entire election, show Trump gaining ground in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Amid this backdrop, critiques of Harris’ handling of immigration continue to resurface, raising questions about her effectiveness in one of the most vital areas of national policy.
